This is our final Project for Art 345.  This was a collaborative piece between Al King, Nick Krueger, and myself.  We really pushed ourselves for this and narrowed down multiple ideas to come up with a good final product.  We threw ideas back and forth for a very long time until we finally came up with something we all agreed on and it was nice being able to see our ideas come to life exactly as we wanted to.

Endangered Emily Arthur

This gallery was very fun to walk through, the combinations of mediums was nice to see especially since I mix mediums in my personal work. The piece "Ursa Major” was very impressive to me especially since it’s a screen print.  The color separation that goes along with the process of screen-printing is difficult and to incorporate as many colors as she did in the symbol above the deer is just impressive.  The fact that a lot of works were screen print is impressive.  There is so much detail and the colors are exactly where they need to be, and in the end the prints came out really well. Actually come to think of it I don’t even think its mixed medium it just looks like it. What made me realize it wasn’t mixed media were the banners that were hanging, the lines were so crisp and clean I thought it was a paintbrush or paint pen but its actually screen-printed.  Her work was really nice and it was a nice twist on an old art style.

Joe Allen the Duck Maker

Upon entering the gallery I was kind of dumbfounded, I didn’t understand why there were just ducks everywhere, until I read the statement.  The amount of time and personal devotion to these pieces really brings them to life in a sense. However that being said I would have liked to see more animals than just ducks.  I appreciate his style and his art however I would like to see him expand he’s spent many years doing this and learning from masters, so I fell like now it’s time to expand his horizon.  He’s perfected ducks so now what can he push himself to do?  That’s honestly my only criticism for Allen.  Its really to overlook some of the pieces since all we see is ducks.
